Today’s post is a guest post from my husband, Justin! Justin was able to visit a restaurant on my bucket list AND bring me back some while on a day trip the other day. Unfortunately, I was babysitting and stuck with such delicacies as “plain hot dogs with no bun,” so getting an arepa at the end of the day was a great treat. As usual, this place is gluten free friendly- I didn’t get sick! And now, hear it from Justin:
My day started at 4:30am when I got up to get ready to take a friend to court, and the Guatemalan consulate Atlanta. We finished up at court at about 11:00 and decided it was high time for some lunch. Brittany had looked up a restaurant, Arepa Mia, a few months back and suggested that we go someday. Being in Atlanta, I recommended to Reyna and Ervin that we go check It out. Sadly Brittany was up in Chattanooga babysitting and so was unable to come.
When we arrived, we took a second to scan the large but well organized and colorful menu. A few moments later we were greeted by one of the owners. He was very attentive, and happily explained the menu, and why there was so much fuss about Arepas. Reyna said they sounded like Tortas, and they were! They are like sandwiches on a corn masa bun filed with any goodies you want!
